I would have never thought in a
million years I would be writing about this. I would have never thought that I
would be writing about men getting pedicures, or let alone getting one myself.
I mean, I’ve always considered myself as a person that would not partake in the
same beauty routines as women. However, I finally caved in and actually got a
pedicure, and this article will explore this first-time experience and also talk
about its health benefits.
I know a pedicure isn't a particularly guy thing to do.
Apparently, lots of women get pedicures, and honestly after my experience I can
understand why; it is wonderful. So here is how it went. First, the pedicurist
placed my feet in a warm bath and let them soak for a few minutes. She then
trimmed my nails and cuticles, and exfoliated the bottom of my feet till they
were soft. She then applied lotion and massage every part and crevice of my
foot, even between my toes. I bet you don't even lotion between your toes! To
be quite honest, while I was having a relaxing time, I was more worried for the
poor pedicurist. I kept thinking what a horrible experience this must be for
her, considering the condition of my feet (if you can imagine 20 + years of
uncared feet).
My advices to men, who haven’t had a pedicure in the past,
set aside your guy pride and time and give your feet a treat. Remember, the
health of your feet is vital to your overall health.
The average person takes about a 10,000 steps a day, which
wears and tears on the foot. This can be harmful to one’s feet if they are not
adequately cared for. Pedicures are one of the most important basic cares of
the feet and should be utilized by everyone.
Exfoliation prevents the cells from accumulating and encourages new cell
growth, a process essential to the health of the feet. Receiving a regular pedicure can aid in the early
detection of corn, bunions, and fungal infections. A podiatrist can treat these
conditions once detected at an early stage.
Pedicures can decrease rates of infections and promote blood
circulation in the feet. Cutting and cleaning toenails gets rid of bacteria,
dirt, and infections. It prevents foot disorders, odors, and mainly protects
the toes from physical injury. Massaging your feet with oils and lotions
preserves its condition and quality, and prevents blisters, cracks, and other
problems. It also aids in better blood
circulation as well as relieves stress and tension, which can be beneficial to
the whole body.
Whether you visit a cosmetic salon or do it yourself, a
pedicure should be done at least once a month for the proper health of your
feet. It is also an excellent stress reliever. So, the next time you book an
appointment to get a haircut or a shave at the barbershop, man up and book
yourself a pedicure too.
